Legal — Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
masizime Inc. (hereinafter, "we") establishes the following provisions regarding the handling of user information in the macOS application "Web Capture Library" (hereinafter, the "App") and this website (hereinafter, the "Site").
01
Basic Policy — The App Is Not Intended to Collect Personal Information
The App is a local-first application with no servers or accounts. In the current version, we have not established any mechanism intended to collect or receive users' personal information, usage data, or captured content in connection with their use of the App. Specifically:
- There is no user registration or login system.
- The current version does not implement telemetry (automatic transmission of usage statistics, crash reports, or similar data).
- Captured images, metadata, and extracted body text are, in principle, stored only in a local folder on the user's Mac that the user specifies. There is no functionality for automatically transmitting them to our servers.
- In principle, the App's communications are for retrieving web pages and related resources that the user instructs the App to import.
02
Communications Performed by the App
To import a URL specified by the user, the App accesses the target website directly from the user's Mac. The connection does not pass through the developer's servers, and the App has no functionality for automatically transmitting captured images, extracted body text, tags, or notes to us.
- Communications with target sites: The App sends HTTP/HTTPS requests to target sites to display pages and retrieve images, metadata, and sitemaps.
- Transmission to the developer: The current version has no functionality for automatically transmitting telemetry, crash reports, captured content, or usage history to us.
- Transmission to AI / LLM services: Because the current version does not include integration with any AI provider, it has no functionality for transmitting page content or images to external AI services.
- Direct-edition updates: The direct edition retrieves public update metadata from the official website at most once a day and when you check manually. No license code, company name or captured content is included. The hosting provider may process connection information such as your IP address.
- Trial edition: The app stores the trial start and last-check dates on your Mac. These dates are not sent to us.
- Corporate licenses (planned): Once available, the app will verify license codes locally and store them on your Mac. Company and contact details sent for corporate inquiries and purchases will be used for responding, invoicing and issuing a license.
- Chrome extension: Only when you click the toolbar icon, the current page URL is passed locally to the Mac app. The extension does not send the URL or page content to our servers, monitor browsing, or use analytics.
- Communications by the Site: When the Site is displayed, the hosting provider where it is published may process technical information (Section 6).
03
Storage of and Responsibility for Captured Data
Captured images, metadata, and extracted body text are stored without encryption on the user's Mac. The user is responsible for managing stored data, including backups, encryption, and whether to share the data with third parties. We recommend using OS-level disk encryption such as FileVault and not selecting a cloud-synced folder as the storage location.
04
Information Collected through the Site
The Site currently has no input forms, account registration, or email newsletter registration. Accordingly, we do not directly collect personal information such as names or email addresses through the Site. If we add any of these features in the future, we will add the categories of information collected, purposes of use, and storage methods to this Policy before providing the features.
05
Information Obtained through Inquiries
When a user contacts our support address by email, we obtain the sender's email address, name, and other sender information, together with the content of the inquiry. We use this information only to respond to the inquiry and to investigate and improve defects in the App, and for no other purpose. We keep correspondence records for a reasonable period and then delete them appropriately. Requests from individuals for disclosure, correction, or deletion of their personal information are handled through the contact listed in Section 9.
06
Cookies and Analytics
In the current version, the Site does not use cookies, analytics tools, or third-party-hosted stylesheets or scripts. The hosting provider where the Site is published may process technical information such as IP addresses, User-Agent strings, and access dates and times to deliver pages and prevent unauthorized access. In that case, the information will be handled in accordance with the provider's privacy policy and our contractual settings. We will revise this Policy before expanding the scope of such handling.
07
Disclosure to Third Parties and Disclosure Required by Law
We do not provide information we obtain to third parties without the consent of the individual concerned. This does not apply, however, when disclosure is requested pursuant to law. At present, as stated in Section 4, we do not directly collect personal information through the Site.
08
Amendments to This Policy
If we amend this Policy, we will announce the amendment on this page and state the amendment date. We will notify users of changes that materially affect them, such as an expansion in the scope of external transmission, both on this page and in the App's update information.
